Trendy Café in Town, any Idea?

IMG_0647

ID Café, this new place I have discovered randomly, driving around with my scooter. You will notice the play-on-word with my title #genius haha. Well, I am so glad today to present you this little place, which is simply  G R E A T.  I guess it will be my new office for now 🙂

Amy Winehouse & Hotel Costes in the background, cosy and quiet, great deco and colors, the perfect place to chill or work in a calm environment, far from the noise of the city, even if its location is quite centered.

There have 2 different places in town, one in D1 close to Ben Thanh market, and one in D3. Personally I prefer the one in D3, less noise and more light 🙂

I have the feeling this café is quite well know by the Vietnamese population, but not that much by the expat’ around here, so check their website and Facebook, and go and have a coffee or enjoy a lunch there, it worths it!

What’s up in Saigon?

Hi there, sorry for the lack of news. These last weeks have been a bit busy/stressful for me. I got my bag ripped off while I was driving my motorbike, by 2 random guys who drove away as fast as they can. Didn’t really realize what happened at that time… But results are that I don’t have my iPhone anymore, my credit card and my motorbike original papers … which is SH*T. Loads of people told me about having their bags/phones stolen, apparently it’s a current thing here, and I am used to be VERY careful, just not this time (as usual) …
So yea, no more Instagram pict, no more social media, random status, or internet on my phone, I feel a bit naked I have to say for the social media addict that I am … Makes me realize as well how much free time I have without my phone actually. #crazy

Well, apart from that, things are going pretty much the same… work – drinks with friends – home – sleep – work – … I have moved in a new house 2 weeks ago, and the only thing I am not happy about is the amount of cockroaches on the ground floor, coming from everywhere because of the rainy season… #buuuuurk I just HATE them and I don’t think this will be the kind of things I will be used to ….

One good news is the #Fleamarket I have been to last Sunday in District 7, which was bigger than the previous one. Great weather and enjoyable time there. I really appreciate going to D7, it’s like going on a trip 40mins away from HCMC 🙂 The area is very new and makes me thing of Gunwarlf in Portsmouth … #Goodtimes !

Next one is planned on Sunday in District 2, so of course you will find me there 🙂

I am also excited about this Dream Market I have never been to! It looks quite nice and I have to say I can’t wait to try it. I love vintage/retro stuff, clothes, accessories, objets and maybe that’s the reason why I am making a big deal of all these markets around here! In London, I had my little favorite Charity Shops I was going to every time I was there. #excitingtimes 🙂

Ohh also, I haven’t said it yet, but I introduced a new concept of #bloggersmeetings monthly in Saigon 🙂 I hold the first one last month and I am very excited about the next one this week. I hope to get more and more people coming, so we will end up being a good community, sharing the same passion for blogging and maybe creating some kind of projects all together … #Whynot?  I have noticed the Bloggers community in Saigon is not very well expended. I mean I know censure for bloggers is a big deal here but there is nothing wrong talking about a shared passion if nothing bad is said. 🙂 So I felt there were something to do about this. It’s just too bad if we are all blogging about Saigon and not knowing each others.  So I will keep you updated about that …

A lot of writing, I guess I had things to say 🙂 sorry for the lack of pictures :/ at least you know the reason why…

Tonight is #WebWednesday for a great talk so maybe see you there Saigoneers 🙂

Have a good day 🙂

Lunch Lady in Ho Chi Minh

YES ! Since I am here, everybody is talking about LUNCH LADY….

Who is She? Why does everyone is so obsessed with this Lunch Lady? Why?

And I found out … ! 🙂 Lunch lady is a street food place to eat in Saigon, nothing special, just a good address! Come and meet her on Hoang Sa street in District 1 and try one of her delicious soup. It is a different one every day and it is like that since 15 years!

I found out on google that she can do pho, mien ga, bun thit nuong, nem nuong, cha gio, mi quang, bun cha ca. I have been only once so I haven’t tried any of these but I will be back for sure 🙂 Moreover, it’s cheap!

My trip with Mr. Hung in the Mekong Delta

Hello Everyone,

More than two weeks now that I am here, in Ho Chi Minh City (I can say HCMC now 😉 ) and I really enjoy it! Weather is not very good but the atmosphere is so peaceful and simple. It feels good to discover something new!

Last Monday, I went to the Mekong Delta: first little trip on my own 🙂 I was very excited as I have never been so far away from home, on my own, in an Asiatic country. So I planned myself a little tour for two days thanks to different blogs, guides and recommended areas to visit. I didn’t want to do a touristic trip with a big group of people and everything planned minute per minute so I decided to go on my own and book something by myself. This is how I found a very typical and lovely homestay: GuestHouse Hung.

Mr Hung and his family is living around 8km away from Can Thô, in a typical Vietnamese house, very close to the Delta. Price for one night is $15, including a little bungalow to sleep, cooking activities, dinner and breakfast. He has about 10 cosy bungalows facing the Delta, so an amazing view in the morning when you wake up – Private shower, toilet – The typical and funny thing when sleeping in a bungalow is that you can ear every single noise at night and you wake up early with the sun and with a nice “Cocoricooooo”. You also have a free access to his bikes if you want to have a little ride on the border of the Delta.

He offered me to do a boat trip planned for the next morning (6 a.m), which is a very good opportunity to discover the Mekong Delta, including the floating market, a noodle factory, a rice factory, a plantation market and a plantation field. All of these for $15 as well. Good price! And a good overall view of the area.

Stop talking now, just have a look at my evening there 🙂
