Activities in the Mekong Delta

What to do in the Mekong Delta?

Well now that I have been twice in the Mekong Delta, I can tell you a bit about what to do there 🙂

First typical thing to do is to sleep in a home stay 🙂 It is very nice and you will discover much more than if you are in a hotel. I talked about my stay in a previous article. See the pictures of my little bungalow, very cute !

Then some activities to do in the day are:

– Do a boat trip and visit the floating market (if possible, very early in the morning) ! I did the one in Can Tho… It is a very nice moment, where you can see the local population, selling their local products and being active. If you live in Vietnam, you will notice people are very active in the morning, and wake up with the sun, and lazy in the afternoon, enjoying naps and shadows.

– Visit a rice noodle or a rice paper factory. I did both. One in Can Tho and one in Ben Tre, and it was almost the same, except the fact that I tasted rice paper in Ben Tre. I saw a very interesting process of making rice noodle and rice paper from rice water with old machines 🙂

– Visit seeds plantation. I didn’t know we can visit this kind of activity and it was very interesting to see the process that makes spices, trees, and herbs.

– Visit a rice factory. Before making rice noodles or rice papers, the rice comes from  plantations, and then it is treated to make different kind of rice: white rice, long rice, broken rice …

– Visit a coconut factory: Ben Tre is the coconut kingdom, this is where most of the coconuts you find in the streets/restaurants come from! I really wanted to go and visit one of them because the beauty addict that I am wanted to get natural coconut oil. And I got it !!
